Rolig Folk is out there!

I’m excited to announce the release of my upcoming album “Kjempe-Jo”! Release date is April 19th, and it will be available on ditigal platforms and on vinyl in limited edition. The first single “Rolig Folk” is out there now and I am stoked to be releasing this.

"Rolig Folk" picks up the traditional Norwegian "Gangar" rhythm, and features me on the piano, Johanne Flottorp on Hardanger fiddle, Katrine Schiøtt on cello and Jakop Janssønn on drums. Listen to it on Spotify.

You might wonder who this Kjempe-Jo person is?

Long ago, a mythical character lived in the small village of Tovdal in the south of Norway. Known by his contemporaries as “Kjempe-Jo” [Jo the Giant], the vast man was a legend in the local community: A great dancer walking on his hands as much as his feet. He often got involved in fistfights, and once, he killed a brown bear with his bare hands. The story has it that he was also into magic. Kjempe-Jo’s true name was Jon Olsen (1816-1883), and he was my great-great-grandfather.

Stay tuned for more songs leading up to the album!
